I have always been attracted to the emotional responses created from the combination of audio and video. Using these tools I created an emotional video designed to resonate with the audiences own experiences of grief. What makes the video successful was a combination of the songs droning and subtle undertones with experimental camera movements, focal shifts, and altered time to represent the characters diegetic response. The audience members empathize with the father as he follows the stages of depression that ultimately lead to his suicide. Although it ends with death, the story presents the idea of an afterlife through the father's distorted reality.
